St. Mary’s Academy, a prestigious all-girls Roman Catholic high school in Portland, OR, is the oldest continuously-operating secondary school in Oregon. During COVID-19, additional cleaning and disinfecting were essential for safety. Already providing cleaning services, we were tasked with meeting this need.
The Challenge
St. Mary’s Academy, a prestigious Roman Catholic, all-girls high school in Portland, OR, holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously-operating secondary school in Oregon since its foundation in 1859. With the nationwide outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, the school faced a critical need to enhance its sanitation measures to ensure the safety of staff, students, families, and visitors. Recognizing the urgent requirement for increased cleaning and disinfection protocols, St. Mary’s Academy reached out to Atlas Facilities Maintenance, their trusted partner already engaged in providing cleaning services, to devise an effective solution to address the heightened health risks.
The Solution
Atlas, fully aware of the critical nature of the situation and the paramount importance of preventing the spread of COVID-19 through contact with surfaces frequently touched by numerous individuals, proposed the introduction of routine high-quality disinfecting alongside the existing cleaning schedule. This proposal was promptly accepted and implemented by Atlas’s specially trained cleaning personnel.
In response to the need for robust COVID-19 prevention strategies, Atlas advocated for the use of cutting-edge technology, specifically electrostatic sprayer technology, renowned for its superior efficiency and effectiveness over traditional cleaning methods. The recommended disinfecting regime utilizes state-of-the-art equipment that employs this technology, along with EPA-approved disinfectants, ensuring a far more comprehensive cleaning and sanitization of spaces.
Electrostatic sprayers operate by emitting a mist of positively charged particles that adhere to and uniformly coat all types of surfaces, including those that are 3D or difficult to reach. This innovative approach not only achieves a more thorough disinfection but also does so with remarkable efficiency, capable of disinfecting up to 55,000 square feet per hour—making it up to ten times more efficient than conventional methods. This efficiency translates into cost savings for our clients while maintaining the highest safety standards during application by our trained professionals.
